Alameda Labor Council Endorses!

In a Sweeping Victory, Oakland District 2 Council Candidate Nikki Fortunato Bas Secures Endorsement from Alameda Labor Council AFL-CIO


The 60-6 vote in favor of Nikki Fortunato Bas highlights her experience and commitment to working families, worker justice, and coalition building.

Oakland- On Monday the Alameda Labor Council, AFL-CIO, which represents 135 unions, endorsed Nikki Fortunato Bas in a sweeping 60-6 vote. The Labor Council issued a sole endorsement for Bas, who has already gained support from a broad coalition of labor unions, community-based organizations, and District 2 neighbors.

“Nikki Fortunato Bas has the experience, the values, and vision we need on the Oakland City Council,” said Labor Council leader Liz Ortega-Toro. “Nikki is the leader that we deserve, she has over two decades of a proven track record of fighting for equality at work and advancing economic development with real community benefits.”

The endorsement from the Alameda County Labor Council is the latest in endorsements for the campaign which now include SEIU 1021, the California Nurses Association, BART Director Lateefah Simon, Black Lives Matter Co-Founder Alicia Garza, and dozens of District 2 neighbors and leaders.

“I truly believe that the endorsement from the Alameda Labor Council highlights my commitment to working families and equity for all,” said Nikki Fortunato Bas. “I am proud to add the Labor Council to my growing list of supporters and am excited to work together building an Oakland for all of us that serves all residents.”
